Recipe 1

This is a really good ‘peace of mind’ multipurpose cleaner that is quick, easy to make and perfect for everyday use.

What you will need:

100 ml of Vinegar or 50ml of vodka/Isopropyl Alcohol

25- 50ml of Castile Soap interchangeable with African Black Soap (depending on how concentrated and soapy you like your cleaner to be.

Fill the rest of your spray bottle/container (approximately 500 ml bottle) with approximately 400 ml of distilled or boiled water.

1 teaspoon of a carrier oil such as Sweet Almond or 1 teaspoon of glycerine and add all your essential oils  (listed below) to this carrying solution before mixing into your cleaning mix.

  • 10 drops of tea tree oil interchangeable with Lemon or Orange essential oil
  • 5 drops of Rosemary oil or Eucalyptus oil
  • 5-10 drops of Lavender or Ylang Ylang oil

Shake bottle before each use.

*Please note that vinegar is not appropriate for the use on granite, stone or marble it can cause damage and ‘etching’, if you wish to use this product on granite take out the vinegar and do not use citrus oils such as lemon and orange.

My theory behind this recipe is:

Vodka kills bacteria (being 40% alcohol which kills germs), as do the tea tree and rosemary essential oils; they both also have anti-fungal properties.

Vinegar is a great all round cleaner and disinfects everything.

Castile soap or black soap are both natural cleaning and foaming agents.

Essential oils smell nice and have their own anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and cleaning properties.
