Nutritional Secrets in your Kitchen Cupboards

This is a a really exciting blog, as women we spend so much money on expensive chemically laden cosmetic products and my website is all about empowering you to make your own.  All you need is some raw ingredients; which does take a little investment at first but after you have the essentials you are good to go.

The next thing you need is a little knowledge about the raw ingredients and what does what.  This is where this blog comes in.  Below is a list of all the kitchen basics; some fruit, veg, basic oils & few herbs all of which can be used in your product making.  This list outlines what properties these ingredients have within them and therefore what will be transferred into your product.  For example I often used oranges (for the vitamin C) in my products.  I have at times infused the orange in the distilled water or if I wanted the product really quickly I have squeezed the juice, strained the juice and added a preservative to my product to.  I use Lemon Essential oil to reduce oil build up so this tends to be used in a toner, alongside green tea which is a great anti oxidant.  If I need to calm my skin I will make a chamomile infusion and if my skin needs to heal or regenerate I will add Aloe vera.

Choose a product you want to make (feel free to use a recipe from my website), assess what you think your skin may need and add it to your base product to make your own personal, tailor made cosmetic care product.  It will be safe, natural, non toxic, you will know exactly what is in it and have fun learning and developing a new skill.  Its very rewarding to make your own products; putting in good raw ingredients lets you know that this item would have been super expensive to purchase and you get to tweak it to exactly your desired requirements of feeling and fragrance.  Long term this is a much cheaper way to get natural cosmetic products that actually feed, replenish and moisturise your skin.  Each time you make a new product you grow in confidence and expertise.  I hope you enjoy the experimentation and embrace the goddess within you.

 

Almonds (ground) – Sun damage.  Aids absorption of nutrients, Cell reproduction of energy and protien, Anti aging, acne.

Almond Milk – Vitamin E, antioxidant properties essential to skin’s health.

Apples – Vitamin C which helps with the production of collegen.  Contains copper which helps produce melanin, a natural SPF.

Apple Cider Vinegar – Cuticle repair, shiny hair, de-scaler, exfoliator, balance skin PH, sun damage, acne, deodorant and dandruff.

Avocado – Moisturising, shiny hair, natural oils, anti-aging, skin protection, split ends, hair breakage, vitamin C which helps with the production of collegen & vitamin E.

Avocado oil – Rich in Monounsaturated fatty acids, Vitamins A, B & D, Deep moisturising properties, good for both dry and mature skin.

Banana – Potassium, anti oxidants and moisture, dry brittle hair, strengthens hair follicle, split ends, hair breakage, controls oil production and elasticity of skin.

Blueberries – damaged skin, broken capillaries, acne, anthocyanidins and hair loss.

Coffee – antioxidants, anti-aging, cellulite.

Coconut oil – emollient, oily skin, SPF.

Cocoa Powder (Pure) – Anti oxidants, magnesium, minerals, shiny hair, hair thickener, hair loss, proteins, riboflavin, vitamin A,  thiamine, darken hair colour.

Cucumber – Vitamin C, water rentention, Vit B5, moisturiser, Vitamin K, dark eye circles, dark spots, silica, collagen, anti aging, wrinkles.

Cranberry – Anti aging, tone, acne, hair lss, psoriasis, alopecia, dandruff, enhance red colour in hair.

Fig – Vitamin B, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, skin repair, omega 3, moisturising, conditioner, skin inflammation, acne, corns, psoriasis, tighten pores, excess oil, lip balm, hair loss, blood circulation, grey hair, darkens hair, (ideal for wavy, coarse, graying, curly hair).

Garlic – Acne, (crushed garlic clove with tsp of honey apply to the infected area, leave for 10 minutes, rinse dry and pat dry).

Grapeseed oil – Rick in linoleic, vitamin E, antioxidants, damaged skin, moisturing, high absorbancy (non greasy)

Green tea – Anti inflammatory, puffy eyes, anti-aging.

Honey – dry skin, damaged skin, damaged hair, dry hair, anti-bacterial, hair loss, acne.

Jojoba oil – Rich moisturiser, damaged skin, acne, dry skin, aczema, psoriasis, inflammation, rheumatism, and arthritis.

Kiwi – dark spots, toner, firming, cell regeneration, excess oil, sun damage, exfoliator, hydrates hair.

Lemon – De- scaler, excess oil, skin and hair lightener, toner, exfoliator, antibacterial.

Lime – skin lightening, lighten dark spots, acne, exfoliator, dandruff, excess oil, hair-loss.

Mango – anti aging, acne, astringent.

Manuka honey – antimicrobial, scars, stimulates the immune system, cell regeneration, exfoliator, tissue repair, acne.

Oatmeal – emollient, softens, hydrates, sensitive skin, dry skin, irritated skin.

Olive Oil – Moisturising.

Orange – Vitamin C, dandruff, hair growth, conditioner, toner, blackheads, anti-aging, skin brightening, acne, dark spots.

Papaya – Vitamin A, exfoliator, water retention, hydration, acne, supple skin, dark spots, skin discolouration, anti aging.

Passionfruit – Vitamin A, Vitamin C, anti aging, boost immune system, cell reproduction, repair hair follicles, vitamin B2 Vitamin, B6 copper, potassium.

Pear – Vitamin C, skin damage, anti aging, wrinkles, acne, skin damage, excess oil, dry skin, lip balm, exfoliator.

Pineapple – Vitamin C, acne, boost immune system.

Pomegranate – dry skin, moisturising, dehydration, dry skin, irritated skin, omega 3 fatty, seals in moisturiser, balance oily skin, acne, cell regeneration, sunburn, damaged skin, scars, strengthening and regeneration of the epidermis.

Rapeseed oil – Rich minerals, viatmins, GLA acids, moisturising.

Rose water – soothes, sensitive skin, irritiated skin, excess oil, softens, tones.
